The Celtics and 76ers have reached a deal in principle that will send the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft to Philadelphia and the No. 3 pick to Boston, a person familiar with the parameters of the deal told USA TODAY Sports.

The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly until a deal is official.

The Celtics are also expected to receive a protected 2018 first-round pick from the Los Angeles Lakers, or the Sacramento Kings’ first-rounder in 2019 if the 2018 pick is not conveyed.

The news was first reported by NBA.com’s David Aldridge.

With the top pick, the Sixers are expected to take University of Washington guard Markelle Fultz, who worked out for Philadelphia on Saturday. The teams plan to conduct a trade call on Monday with the NBA office.

“It would be pretty cool, just being with a young team,” Fultz, who is from the Washington D.C. area, told reporters after his workout with the Sixers. “The upside of it would be crazy. I’m close to home, so a lot of my family can come out and just show love. This city has great fans.”
